Why Halloween Is Much More Fun Now vs. When You Were a Kid
Old people in the prehistoric ages said that once in a blue moon, the gates of hell opens and all the demons and ghosts are free to roam the world. That day is now what we infamously celebrate as Halloween. Although that description sounds pretty close to every Monday morning of our lives. While it was meant to commemorate the deceased, it’s a pretty good day to celebrate those of us who are still living.
When we were kids, October 31 was the time our parents dressed us up in some DIY costume or a pre-packed outfit from the toy store. Fairies, princesses, or witches were the main look for girls and boys would often get dressed a knight, pirate, or some superhero. The final accessory to complete every look? The orange pumpkin to be filled by store clerks with candy and chocolate. Mission accomplished if your parents had to bring out an extra plastic bag because your pumpkin was filled fast!
Many people think that Halloween is just for kids but getting real with you, it’s not. It’s so much more fun to celebrate Halloween now that you’re an adult! You don’t have to wear something your parents picked out for you. You can be anything you want to be, from a super scary reincarnation of The Nun to your fave Netflix series character. It’s that one night you can dress-up as anything you want to be and not be judged for it!
You can go and be the Playboy Bunny or Victoria’s Secret Angel you’ve always wanted to be! And to quote Mean Girls, “In girl world, Halloween is the one night of the year when girls can dress like a slut and no other girls can say anything about it.”
Now that we’re older, the Halloween tradition of trick-or-treating from one store to the other has been replaced by bar hopping from one bar to another. Instead of joining parlor game like musical chairs or the notorious stop-dance, non-stop-dancing to the latest tunes is where it’s at.
And forget the candy, it’s all about collecting shots with your squad or being offered cocktails by the cutie/s across the bar. We’re sure that you get a little bit more confident when you have your costume on and you’ve had a couple of drinks. Just make sure you don’t get tricked by your treat by the end of the night.
So the next time someone raises an eyebrow at you inviting them over for a Halloween bash, tell them not to be a buzzkill and tell them that’s going to be magical! We’re hosting huge Halloween parties in The Palace Manila this October 31, no kids in fairy costumes invited. Keep posted on /ESCAPE for all the deets!
