FULL TIMELINE: Taylor Swift Exposes Kanye West In a Tell-All Interview

If you’re like us who genuinely thought that the long-standing feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West is finally over, well, we’re all wrong. Ten years later, we’re still talking about the notorious MTV Music Video Award acceptance speech situation between the two musicians. Let’s be real here, we all know this. No one needs a backstory.

But in her recent lengthy cover story for Rolling Stone September issue, the ‘Lover’ singer dropped a bombshell when she told the whole story of the events that followed after that awards night.

What everyone doesn’t know according to Taylor is that Kanye asked her to present his VMAs Vanguard Award in 2015. She said: “He called me up beforehand — I didn’t illegally record it, so I can’t play it for you … and he’s like, “I really, really would like for you to present this Vanguard Award to me, this would mean so much to me,” and went into all the reasons why it means so much, because he can be so sweet … I wrote this speech up, and then we get to the VMAs and I make this speech and he screams, “MTV got Taylor Swift up here to present me this award for ratings!”

For accuracy purposes, Kanye’s exact words were: “You know how many times they announced Taylor was going to give me the award ’cause it got them more ratings?”

Apparently, this made Taylor very uncomfortable. “I’m standing in the audience with my arm around his wife, and this chill ran through my body, I realized he is so two-faced. That he wants to be nice to me behind the scenes, but then he wants to look cool, get up in front of everyone and talk shit.”

According to Taylor, after the awards show, Kanye apologized to her and asked her to come to his dressing room after the show. She never went so Kanye made it up to her by sending a giant bouquet of flowers. Taylor accepted the kind gesture because she doesn’t want to rekindle the feud. She posted the said bouquet on her Instagram, and captioned it with hashtags #KanTay2020 and #BFFs.

The peace between the two didn’t last too long. In 2016, Kanye released the song ‘Famous’ with lines about Taylor. “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous,” he sang. The rapper insisted that the pop singer was fully aware of the lyrics. However, Taylor said she only approved of the line about sex, and not about him making her famous.

Few months after the song was released, Kanye’s wife, Kim, uploaded a series of Snapchat stories of a recorded phone call between Taylor and Kanye discussing the song and getting her approval. However, the recorded bits didn’t show Taylor approving the “I made that bitch famous” line.

This whole drama started the #TaylorSwiftIsOver party which made the pop singer hide from the public eye for over a year. This also made the public call her a snake which birthed the dark and edgy theme of her sixth studio album, reputation.

Taylor opened up to Rolling Stone: When I heard the song, I was like, “I’m done with this. If you want to be on bad terms, let’s be on bad terms, but just be real about it, getting close to you, earning your trust, detonating you,”

The pop singer also expressed how she doesn’t want to talk about it again.  “I really don’t want to talk about it anymore because I get worked up, and I don’t want to just talk about negative shit all day,”

You know what, Taylor, same. Who do you think is telling the truth?
