Our Favorite GRAMMY Moments

It’s that time of the year again for the biggest event in music!

There were a lot of firsts, girl power and equality! Even if there’s still a long way to go to achieve equality and to eradicate discrimination in the music industry, this years GRAMMYs is moving forward to lessen that. Here are our favorite moments from this years GRAMMYs.

Dua Lipa Won 2 GRAMMYs on Her First Time!

Our favorite spunky pop artist just won TWO GRAMMYs on her first year to be nominated! She won Best New Artist and Electricity won Best Dance Recording. You go Dua, you deserve it!

The famous rap song This Is America is famous for a reason – the song is woke and even the music video has a lot of symbolism that comments on America today. With a song like that, of course it would win Song of the Year. It made history too because it’s the first rap song to ever win the category.

Emotional and Important Message by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga received the award for Best Pop Duo/Group and Best Song Written for Shallow from A Star Is Born. She used this time to say an important message about mental health, which is also a big theme of the movie the song is from. We love you Ms. Gaga!

First Solo Female to Win Best Rap Album

We all know that Cardi B took over 2018, so it’s no surprise she won Best Rap Album this year! She is also the first female rapper to win this category. YAS KWEEN!

Alicia Key’s Amazing Performance

Of course, this 15 time GRAMMY winner won’t let the show go by without an amazing performance, right?! She sang top hits like Killing Me Softly and Use Somebody among others. This brilliant woman also hosted the show!

Aretha Franklin Tribute

The Recording Academy did right with this tribute! They invited Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and Andra Day to give tribute to the one and only Aretha Franklin.

That Girl Power of an Opening

And our favorite moment of all is when Alicia Keys invited Lady Gaga, J.Lo, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Michelle Obama on stage and this photo is just everything! We weren’t ready for this. POWER!
