CONFIRMED : Margot Robbie Will Be Playing Barbie

Margot Robbie fans, listen up : she has something big coming up for all of us. Just yesterday, Warner Bros. & Mattel confirmed that the actress will be bringing Barbie to life in a movie set to be released — hopefully — this year.

Throughout the years, Barbie has been an icon for young girls (and the rest of the world, really) that symbolizes confidence and ambition. Even the actress herself agrees. In fact, in a recent press release, Margot commended the brand as something that promotes “confidence, curiosity, and communication”. Stating that Barbie empowers kids to pursue their dreams, inspiring them to take on aspirational roles. More than a toy, it’s a constant reminder that children, more specifically women, can be anything they want to be.

If that’s not exciting enough as it is, Margot also revealed that her company, LuckyChap Entertainment, will be co-producing the live action film in the making.

“I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide,” said the actress.

Margot first caught the world’s attention when she played the role of Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’. Since then, the actress continued to make a name for herself by diving into various creative roles.

This isn’t the first time the topic of a live action Barbie film has been brought up, as previously, equally impressive actresses such as Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway have been linked to the role.

Regardless, we’re just really excited for this and we’re keeping tabs on the details that have yet to be revealed.
