Activities to Do in Coron, Palawan
Coron, Palawan is a must-visit destination of the Philippines! A solid 5 days and 4 nights will get you the full experience, and by that you will get to see all the beautiful places Coron has to offer. There are direct flights to Busuanga from Manila, so it’s an easy trip. For transportation around the town, you can hire a tricycle and for hopping around the islands there will be boats for hire or tours to join. We list down the activities we recommend you to do to have that full Coron experience below:
Climb Mt. Tapyas
See Coron from high above by climbing Mt. Tapyas. And by high above, its 700+ steps high! It’s quite easy because there are already stairs instead of just rocks and soil to make it a pure hike. It’s around Busuanga town, so it’s an easy activity to do on your first day or your last if you have a late afternoon flight home.
Swim in Kayangan Lake
This lake is one of the most famous lakes in the Philippines. Its 70% fresh water and 30% salt water and the pristine turquoise water is cool and fun to swim in. There are 250+ steps up and down to get to the lake, but it’s worth it! It really is famous for a reason. There is also a viewing deck where you can get a picture perfect shot of the limestone cliffs and beautiful sea.
Snorkel and See Beautiful Corals
Coron still has a lot of sites with corals that are still alive! So you must snorkel and see the beauty of the underwater life! Since Coron is one of the few places that still has thriving coral gardens, remember to take precaution when you snorkel. Environment comes first!
Have a South African-Like Adventure at Calauit
Farther from Coron proper is Calauit Island. This island is home to giraffes, zebras and other animals. But it’s not like a zoo where they are caged in, you can actually walk around while these animals walk alongside you – it’s like a South African adventure just south of Manila!
Go Island Hopping
Coron is surrounded by a whole lot of magical islands! Don’t forget to check out Malcapuya Island, Banana Island, Bulog Dos, North Cay and Black Island. All beautiful islands to lounge around, get that tan and take a dip.
Eat at the Famous Gelato Place in Coron
Pedro’s Gelato is located in Busuanga Town proper. It’s only located in Coron so you must try it! They have locally inspired flavors and classic flavors as well.
Try a Coron Coffee Roastery
I’m not sure about you but coffee is a huge part of our traveling needs. There is a coffee roastery in Coron called Epic that serves your favorite coffee order with locally roasted beans. They also have good dessert too for that after dinner sweet fix.
