5 Reasons Why We’re IN LOVE with Miguel – Apart From His Music

Miguel Jontel Pimentel is one of those voices in music that you’re sure will go up, up up! Aside from numerous collabs with Billboard regulars like Kygo and Travis Scott, there’s more reasons to love this African American-Mexican performer and music producer. Here’s 5 Reasons why we worship Miguel, apart from his amazing music!

He’s all About Being Yourself

We have mad respect for Miguel as an artist. Not a lot of fresh and upcoming artists are willing to breach his contract for the sake of getting his real sound out there (which happened with his first album, All I Want Is You). He’s known to say no to the label if the sound or the look is no longer him. He also shares this philosophy in his concerts. “You are the only you that has ever been and that ever will be. Ever. Ever. Ever and ever. Don’t play yourself baby – be yourself. I promise myself never to conform. Never ever conform. I will believe in myself for ever and ever.”

He’s a Committed Man

He married to actress Nazanin Mandi. They meet when they were 18 and have been dating for a decade, LITERALLY. The first time they met was in a casting for Miguel’s music video, Nazanin was to interview him for a BTS video. “All the ladies want to know, do you have a girlfriend?” Nazanin asks. “No, but I’m looking for one.” answers Miguel. He got her number after the interview and the rest was history! KILIG!  Finally on November 28, 2018, they tied the knot! When asked why he waited so long (10 years), Miguel shares that it was all about getting it right the first time. “I think now people throw things around like marriage. I just wasn’t raised like that,” he shares. The couple shares a peek at their intimate life with Miguel’s Coffee MV.

He Was NO Party boy because he was a Momma’s boy.

Being raised by a traditional Mexican mother, Miguel was a good boy for most of his life. And ladies, as we know, boys who love and treat their mother right will treat you like a proper queen. “My mother was really into her religion, and I was, too, to be honest with you… my mom was very keen on keeping me away from temptation,” he shares. He and his mom would go to church more than once a week and even bible studies. #SoCute! “I was not a part of the social scene in high school. I wasn’t going to parties, I wasn’t drinking, I wasn’t smoking, I definitely wasn’t smoking weed, I wasn’t having sex. Late bloomer. Really late bloomer,” he spills.  He shares that he lost the big V when he was 18 in a family vacay. Yes, you read that right.

…But his dad still influenced him

He shares that while his dad dished about all the temptations he had done in his youth, Miguel was too scared to betray his mom and his religion. His dad did, however, taught him the ways of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Queen. Miguel shares that these bands are a huge part of who he is as a person and an artist. When he as 5, Miguel announced that he wanted to follow MJ’s iconic energy on stage.

He Has Mad Tats

Miguel has the most meaningful tattoos that make us want to get inked! Unexpectedly, he’s into astrology, he has a pario of scorpions because he’s a Scorpio. He’s also has a more philosophical ones “Excellence is not an act but a habit” (from Aristotle), another one scribed in a barbed wire font “Aspire to inspire”, and one in Spanish “Amar hasta la muerte” which means Love me Until Death. Aside from famous paintings (Saint Michael defeating Satan, a Salvador Dalí skull) inked, he also had a feather done to commemorate his native American grandfather.

Don’t miss out on Miguel’s first ever performance in Manila! Miguel is taking over The Island this October 9, 2019! If you want a table for your friends or need more deets, contact the frontdesk at The Island: +639176898888 🌴
